Project Status
Week of 03-20-19
Project is: Behind Schedule
Issues / Extra progress from last week:
-
Fabrication still running behind schedule which will affect assembly and testing
-
While testing motor driver circuit, let all the smoke out of the Particle Argon
Accomplished this week:
Design Change
-
Last minute design change to battery enclosure to add assembly tabs
Water jetting:
-
Completed water jet cutting in Randolph on 3/15
Battery
-
The 3D printed modular battery frames have completed their printing.
-
Sanding on each side of the frame was necessary to allow dove tails to mate correctly
-
The edge of each battery frame was deburred to allow the battery to insert without interference
Welding the Battery Enclosure
-
Having the assembly tabs made welding the enclosure much easier. The tabs self aligned all the panels and set the distances correctly
-
Changes last week to reduce the size of the battery frames also reduced the overall dimensions of the enclosure. This gave extra room for installation and removal of the battery enclosure from the dirtbike.
-
A mid weld fit check showed the flange for the cover interfering with the frame.
-
A tab for the brake reservoir interfered with the top corner of the battery enclsoure
-
The rear battery mounts appeared weak and needed reinforcement. A 1/8" thick plate was added to enclose the parallel mounting plates.
Rear Sprocket
-
After waterjetting a lead in on the sprocket teeth was turn on the Lathe
-
Then the sprocket was sanded and polished.
Electrical
-
Started modifying code from the Argon to work with Freescale micro-controller
-
Code for throttle pot
-
Code for motor driver
-
-
Began redesign of circuit for motor driver to prevent another micro-controller death
-
(Hopefully we will have some videos/pictures of the circuitry and code at work soon)
Goals for next week:
-
Finish battery enclosure welding
-
Start battery pack assembly and spot welding
-
Have completed working code for Freescale micro-controller
